"I speak and understand well but still make mistakes and fail to make myself understood occasionally"

You can already:

  • talk about familiar topics, personal feelings and opinions
  • write simple texts
  • describe present, past and future events
  • understand a native speaker who speaks clearly

You will develop your ability to:

  • understand the main ideas of more difficult texts, such as reports or newspaper articles on both concrete and abstract topics
  • interact with native speakers without too much difficulty so that you are able to have a fairly fluent and spontaneous conversation.
  • write clear, relatively detailed texts such as emails, letters or essays on a range of subjects
  • put forward a point of view giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options
  • understand the main idea of a talk or lecture on a familiar topic and follow English TV or radio news programmes.

You can also start preparation for the Cambridge English First examination when you have B2 level.

Our Upper-Intermediate course is split into three stages; A, B, C. To reach Cambridge First level you should aim to complete all the stages. This will give you the level of accuracy you need to successfully move on and aim for a Cambridge English First certificate.
