The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test that measures your level of English and gives you a band score based on a scale of 1 (no English) to 9 (expert in English).

The test is taken by people who wish to work or study in a place or country where English is the main language of communication. The test is managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia. Institutes, colleges and universities (both in The Netherlands and worldwide) accept the academic IELTS as an entrance requirement for non-native-speakers of English and many visa agencies accept the general IELTS as a means to acquiring a VISA for the following countries: Australia, Canada, UK and New Zealand.
