How do I register for a course?

If you are new to CBE then you first need to make an appointment so we can check your language level and discuss all the course options with you. You can make an appointment by clicking the Register / Level Test link and filling out the form.

Alternatively, you can just give us a call or send us an email, or you can drop in during one of our registration days.

How much does a course cost?

Please see our prices page for current fees.

CBE does not charge BTW (VAT) as we are registered with the CRKBO.

How many hours per week do I have to study?

The study load varies from course to course and you will be advised, before the course starts, how many hours you'll be expected to commit to self-study.

Am I eliglible to take a CBE course?

Our group courses are available to anyone over the age of 21 who can read and write to a good standard in their own language. We welcome all nationalities and status.

I live in another country - can CBE arrange a student VISA for me?

No, we do not handle any visa or accommodation requests. You are welcome to contact us from abroad, but you need to sit the intake test in person, so it is best to contact us after you have arrived in the Netherlands.

Can I study full-time at CBE?

Our group courses are part-time and short-term. A standard group course runs for 11 weeks and lessons are 1 x 2 hours per week or 2 x 2 hours per week. We do not offer any full-time group courses during the regular terms.

In the summer we usually offer 2-week intensive courses of 40 hours.

If you wish to study 1-1 (private lessons) then we can offer you a more intensive package of study.

How do I know which course to take?

Before you register for a course, or private tuition, we give you an intake test to determine your language level. Based on the results we will advise which course is most suitable.

What does the intake test entail and when can I take it?

The intake test consists of the following:

  • a 20-minute grammar paper (multiple-choice)
  • a 10-minute writing task (3 short texts)
  • a 10-minute informal interview with a teacher

The test will take place at CBE Languages, either during the specified registration weeks, or at a mutually appointed time.

Do you teach children?

Our group courses are for people aged 21 and over, so children are not permitted. However, we can provide 1-1 language tuition for children. Please contact the CBE desk for more information.

Can I pay for my course in installments?

Full payment of the course must be made upon registration to confirm your place on the course.

For more intensive courses which take place twice per week you are welcome to pay in two installments. Half upon registration and the rest 4 weeks later.
